What you should know about immediate dentures
In most cases we cannot try the complete immediate denture in to completely check the exact fit prior to extraction. This is because there are still some of your own teeth still present. We are able to verify the bite (the way your upper and lower teeth come together) and estimate the esthetic appearance.
Great care should be taken to follow all postoperative instructions. Your gums and bone will recede after extraction, and regular check-ups and maintenance will monitor healing and reduce problems. Temporary linings or tissue conditioners may be necessary to create an optimal fit and may need to be adjusted or replaced a number of times during the healing period. After 9 to 12 months of complete healing, a permanent denture reline will most likely be necessary to finalize the fit and comfort of your new denture A permanent denture reline will be required to ensure a comfortable and an exact fit after you have completed the healing process.
